weather station and OpenSprinkler

Since updating the firmware to 2.1.9, it is now possible to use your weather station – provided you have online access to the Weather Undergroup (Wunderground) – with your OpenSprinkler can connect. This gives you the best weather control as real weather data from your garden is used. The WU sign on the packaging signals the corresponding ability.

How it works:

  1. Register your weather station with http://www.wunderground.com, also consult the instructions for your weather station
  2. Now click on http://www.wunderground.com top right on “My Profile” and then on “My Devices”.
  3. Your weather station should now appear. Now click on “API Key”.
  4. Then click “Show Key”. Your API key should now appear here. Press “Copy to Clipboard”.
  5. Next, start the OpenSprinkler-APP or go to the web interface of yours OpenSprinklers.
  6. Check that you have firmware 2.1.9 or greater using menu at top left, then “About”.
  7. Click on “Edit Options” in the lower right corner and then on “Advanced”
  8. Now paste the API key from 4. and press verify.
  9. If the display is green, then the API key has been accepted.
  10. Right after that, click on “System” and “Location”.
  11. All weather stations in the vicinity now appear on the map (blue markings). Select your weather station.
  12. Click on "Save". Finished. From now on OpenSprinkler the weather data from your station.

Attention: Only the “carpenter” method works with your own weather station! Evapotranspiration doesn't work here. This is because "solar irradiance" is an important calculation factor in this method, but the service or most weather stations do not provide this value.

Is there an update on the last point (EVo / Zimmermann)? My weather station, for example, also supplies the solar radiation. If you could still choose the EVo, that would be great!

Hello, unfortunately no, because that's not enough. The current solar radiation is only a snapshot, the total radiation over a period of time would be necessary. In addition, Weather Underground, even if the weather station could, cannot deliver it because the interface does not provide for it.
