Hello OpenSprinkler-User!
The OpenSprinkler 3.0/3.2 has two digital sensor inputs. A lot can be done with it: Rain sensors, pulse counters and program starts can be easily implemented with it.
Unfortunately, this is not so easy with the soil moisture sensor. Eg the SMT50 in our shop has an analogue output with 0-3V. An analog-to-digital impulse can only be realized together with the ZPR-21. But the problem is, the ZPR-21 has a 24VAC power supply and a voltage input of 0-10V. At the OpenSprinkler AC can still be wired and the 0-10V can also be adjusted to 0-3V with the help of the setting wheel, but the OpenSprinkler DC left out. Therefore, Ray von OpenSprinkler and I thought about a solution: We build an analog-digital adapter for OpenSprinkler!
The planned features are:
- directly to the OpenSprinkler 3.0/3.2, the block with the 6 contacts GND/SN1/SN2/VIN/COM/COM is extended to the front
- 2x potentiometer for setting the switching point
- 2x dip switches (or jumpers) to switch (bridge) to digital/analogue. This means that an existing digital sensor can continue to be used.
- 2x status LEDs
- GND/VIN/COM/COM are looped through
In 2-4 weeks there could already be a first prototype for it.
What do you think?

Pre-release tested! This version is almost the same as the final version. Power is supplied entirely via the OpenSprinkler and both sensor inputs are used.

The only condition: show us how it works for you – with at least one picture.
Click on “Featured” above and upload a picture of your gardening project – preferably one with it OpenSprinkler!

Are finally here, the final version of the A2D adapter. In principle, nothing has changed, only the LED is now green.
- Get free the Analog2Digital adapter when purchasing one at the same time OpenSprinklers (AC/DC/OSPi) and the SMT50 humidity sensor!
– Existing customers: receive free the analog2digital adapter if you show us how OpenSprinkler works for you - with at least one picture. Register and present your installation on “Featured”.
Great thing. Do you plan to do that in the next version of the Opensprinklers to integrate directly?
That's not decided yet. The development of a new OpenSprinklert takes years – and we only now have the new one OpenSprinkler 3.2 with Ethernet as well OSPi 1.5 released.

I would join!
another question! Is there a circuit diagram for all the wiring?
The wiring is documented in the manual.

Hello,
Is it possible to use the a2d convertor with the new firmware to reed the temperature and moisture from the smt50?
No, the a2d converts the analog input to a digital yes/no value.
If you have one OpenSprinkler 3.2 and want to measure the moisture and temperature values, you need the “Analog Sensor Board”, see here:
https://opensprinklershop.de/product/analog-sensor-board
If you have one OSPi, the new OpenSprinkler software from OpenSprinklerShop also has the analog sensor api, so if you have one OSPi before 1.52 with PCF8591T onboard, you can also use 4 analog inputs.

Yes, exactly. Use the SMT50 with the analog sensor board for optimal results. You can automatically adjust the watering by soil moisture.
