The sensor AquaFlex from TRUEBNER is used to measure the average soil moisture along a 3 m long special measuring cable. In contrast to sensors that measure points like the SMT100, the moisture is recorded in a very large measuring volume. Individual accidentally wet or dry spots, for example when watering lawns, are no longer a problem. The AquaFlex sensor is ideal for easy installation under turf or for subsequent installation in an existing lawn. The special measuring cable has a robust polyethylene jacket and is practically indestructible. With special calibrations, this sensor is also suitable for use in construction technology.

Not suitable if you…
- Fertilize more than twice a month, as the fertilizer dramatically increases the conductivity of the soil
- have a heavy clay soil, as clay is very dense and prevents correct measurement

Note: 40mA sounds small, but most RS485 adapters CANNOT deliver this value. If the sensor always delivers the same (wrong) value, then the power supply is not enough!
Then use an alternative 12VDC power supply with at least 3W. Also connect the ground to the RS485 adapter!

Mounting
The AquaFlex is best installed vertically. It is intended for lawns, where you can use a spade to make a slit, place the tape in it and press it back in firmly. The depth should be the same as the root level.
Due to the huge measuring volume, you should choose a location that has at least 5-10m of lawn around the sensor on all sides.
