The AquaFlex sensor from Truebner is used to measure the average soil moisture along a 3 m long special measuring cable. In contrast to sensors that measure points like the SMT100, the moisture is recorded in a very large measuring volume. Individual accidentally wet or dry spots, e.g. when watering lawns, are no longer a problem. The AquaFlex sensor is ideal for easy installation under turf or for subsequent installation in an existing lawn. The special measuring cable has a robust polyethylene jacket and is practically indestructible. With special calibrations, this sensor is also suitable for use in construction technology.

Operation with OpenSprinkler
The AquaFlex is available in two versions for OpenSprinklers:
- RS485 Modbus (recommended): Requires this RS485 adapter for OpenSprinkler (€59). Up to 4 sensors. Digital transmission.
- Analogue 0-3V: Requires this Analog sensor board (€59).
⚠️ Important note about power supply: The AquaFlex requires up to 40 mA during measurements. Most RS485 adapters cannot provide this value. Use a 12V DC power supply with at least 3W and connect the ground to the RS485 adapter.
Installation
The AquaFlex is best installed upright. Use the spade to make a slit in the lawn, place the tape in it and press it down again. The depth should correspond to the root level. Choose a location with at least 5-10 m of grass around the sensor.
