OpenSprinkler pi (OSPi)

OpenSprinkler pi (OSPi) is an expansion board for Raspberry Pi (Zero W/WH; RPi 1 Model A+/B+; RPi 2; RPi 3; RPi 4). This allows RPi to directly access and control sprinkler valves.

This product requires previous experience with RPi as you can use the OSPi-Must install software by yourself. If you are looking for a sprinkler controller that comes ready to use, please see the fully assembled one OpenSprinkler 3.2

Overview:

OSPi is designed as an expansion board that uses RPi's GPIO pins to directly control sprinkler valves without an additional layer of microcontroller and Ethernet controller. In other words, it's a circuit board that allows an RPi to communicate directly with sprinkler valves.

Characteristics:

Single power supply design - same 24VAC sprinkler transformer powers both sprinkler valves AND RPi.
Rain/flow sensor connector, zone expansion card connector and surge protection.
Expandable – a OSPi supports 8 zones; expandable to 72 with OpenSprinkler Zone expansion boards.
Control from anywhere - use a modern browser or use our free apps for iOS, OSX, Android, Kindle Fire, Windows 8, Chrome and Firefox.
Automatically adjust watering time based on weather – Use online weather data to automatically adjust watering time based on temperature, humidity and rainfall.
Open source and customizable.

Package includes:

• A ready-made and tested one OpenSprinkler Pi board.
• Connection plug (1x Green8, 1x Green6, 1x Orange)
• Spacers and screw connectors including screws

Packages does NOT include – you will also need:

• A Raspberry PI (Zero W/WH; RPi 1 Model A+/B+; RPi 2; RPi 3; RPi 4)
• An enclosure (if you have a 3D printer, see github) – or choose one of our housings!
• 24VAC power supply. If you have an existing power supply from your (old) water computer, you can reuse it. Or select “Standard Power Adapter” for a suitable power supply.
• If you want to use the Raspberry for additional functions, e.g. as a media center or for data acquisition, then you also need a screen with an HDMI connection, a USB keyboard and USB (wireless) mouse. Also see my private page for more Raspi ideas: https://www.schlocke.de/privates/

Optionally available:

• Housing for wall or DIN rail mounting (DIN rail mount required)
• 24V AC power pack for powering the solenoid valves AND the Raspberry Pi

Note: Only suitable for people with Raspberry PI knowledge! For example, detailed knowledge is required for network integration.

On the other hand, with our product OpenSprinkler 3.0 AC or DC the WiFi or Ethernet integration very easily solved.

Remember, Raspberry PI has a Linux operating system and needs basic knowledge to install and maintain.

Various components of the Raspberry PI are also not designed for winter temperatures, so you should dismantle them in winter.

NEVER connect MORE THAN ONE solenoid valve to ONE OpenSprinkler exit on! OpenSprinkler can switch several outputs at the same time, so it is not necessary to combine several valves. Exception: You use a relay for switching.
