Yes, that's true in itself. This is the expected behavior with 2-wire sensors (sensor + Gnd), with 3-wire sensors just an additional + on VIN, at least that's how I understood it. I was able to read at least 1 and 0 on a digital in port using Arduino. Hence my surprise.
But okay, alternatively I'll buy another sensor, I just can't find a reasonably affordable 2-wire sensor for 1″ anywhere.
I'm open to recommendations.

The setting is sensor type 1 “flow” and 1 liter/pulse

Sensor 2 is on “none”.
