Upgrade board

The ESP32 Upgrade Board turns your OpenSprinkler 3.2 or 3.3 with ESP8266 into a significantly more powerful and future-proof control center. Instead of just providing reliable watering, the upgrade opens up a new class of functions for your existing controller: more computing power, more memory, modern wireless standards and significantly more reserves for sophisticated expansions.

A particular advantage is the support of ESP RainMaker. This means that OpenSprinkler can be integrated much better into modern smart home environments and can work more easily with Alexa and Google Home. Together with Matter, Zigbee and BLE, the ESP32 Upgrade Board becomes the ideal basis for anyone who not only wants to automate their irrigation control, but also intelligently network it.

Compared to the classic ESP8266 version, the upgrade board offers, above all, more future security. The ESP8266 platform is proven and efficient, but quickly reaches its limits with secure cloud connections, new wireless protocols and expanded smart home functions. The ESP32 Upgrade Board creates the necessary reserves and opens up functions that are only possible to a limited extent or not at all on the ESP8266.

The ESP32 Upgrade Board also has clear advantages over the OSPi version: It remains compact, energy-saving and ready for immediate use, without the additional effort of a Linux system. Anyone looking for a modern OpenSprinkler solution with smart home connection, RainMaker support and integration into Alexa and Google Home will get the ideal balance of comfort, performance and future security with the ESP32 upgrade.

The upgrade board is 100% API compatible and all OpenSprinkler addons work the same as before.

    The 3.3 only differs from the 3.2 in the network interface. i.e. If you have a 3.2 without a network adapter, then that's no problem, just convert. However, if you have a network adapter, i.e. the ENC28J60, then you need the W5500 network adapter so that it works with the upgrade board. So in short:
    1. OpenSprinkler 3.2 / 3.3 without Ethernet adapter -> Simply convert the upgrade board
    2. OpenSprinkler 3.2 with Ethernet adapter ENC28J60 -> W5500 + upgrade board
    3. OpenSprinkler 3.3 with Ethernet adapter W5000 -> Simply convert the upgrade board and plug in the network adapter
    By the way: Analog Sensor Board and/or Zone Expander are 100% compatible!
