Hello,
Since I only update the firmware on the Raspberry Pi (OSPI) once a year, I don't remember how to do it and can't find the instructions. How do I update to the current 174 version that I have already downloaded? Or where were the instructions again? THANKS
Hello, very simple:
1. Export configuration.
2. Connect to the console or SSH
3. Go to the OpenSprinkler firmware directory (cd OpenSprinkler firmware)
4. Enter: sudo ./updater.sh
5. Update is running
6. Done. If necessary, restart Raspi
Hello,
I tried this today, ends with
“Compiling ospi firmware… Done!”
However, the firmware still doesn't seem to be up to date. The web interface shows program version 2.4.90, firmware 2.2.1 (4) under /#about. Reboot was carried out. I also don't see any menu items for auto-update that should now exist
No, only Truebner sensors work on the Truebner RS485 adapter, i.e. SMT100, Aquaflex and TH100.
In principle, you could make this possible with the OSPi-Raspi version, a USB RS-485 adapter and custom firmware.
Or you can read the value with another RS-485 software and transfer it via MQTT.
On the weekend I tried the extended MQTT passwords – the UI froze (black screen)! I then saw the 161 – installation worked too, but the UI still hung -> factory reset. I am currently short on time – should the 100 character token work with the 161?
Hello. I've been trying to get this new firmware to work in a VM. Unfortunately the installation fails because there are no GPIOs in the VM and so I get a lot of error messages. I also don't need GPIO because the valves are controlled via MQTT. Is there a way to install the latest firmware without using GPIO?
OK, but why? You could just use Homeassist and use it to control the valves.
If you want to customize this, feel free to do so. The software is open source and is on Github.
“The firmware update can ONLY be carried out via WLAN (for versions lower than 2.2.0.105).” And for the versions above? How does the update over ethernet work, since the update page obv. does not work over ethernet and always exits with the message “check device key” (hash and clear)?
Hello, thank you for the current APK. My tablet still has Android version 8.1.0. When I call the APK, I get an error message: "An error occurred while parsing the package." (On my phone, I have a notice about correctness with unknown apps.)
Can I somehow still load the APK?
Best regards, Frank.
Hello Frank, I'm afraid there's nothing more that can be done. Your tablet is too old, Android 8.1.0 is no longer supported, we are now at Android 15. It would be like trying to use Windows XP on a PC, not much works anymore.
Still, I took another shot and adjusted the APK in the firmware folder, please try this version again
Hello,
I have installed the new firmware – version 2.3.0. (140). But it is the same as before. (With the OpenSprinkler ASB, the battery does not work or is black and does not proceed.)
With the operation from the internet, even remotely, everything works.
Best regards, Frank.
Hi, it's not the firmware, but the app. The version has been updated in the Google Playstore and Apple Appstore, please check if you have the current version.
Hello,
Thank you. Yes, it works immediately with your cell phone. But unfortunately it shows me "not compatible" on the tablet. It's a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (2016). Can you change something in the app so that it works like before?
Best regards, Frank.
Hello,
I installed the new firmware 2024 – version 2.3.0 (139). It works perfectly.
Only when I want to change a password does the Batten not work with OpenSprinkler ASB (no response when pressed).
If I set the opendoor password to a different one (for the simple version Open Sprinkler), it no longer works with the OpenSprinkler ASB (the page on the OpenSprinkler ASB is black and doesn't go any further).
Greetings, Frank
I'm trying to open latest firmware (174) in web browser and it's not working. I'm getting error 404 when downloading: https://ui.OpenSprinklerShop.de/modules.json
Hi, this is not a firmware error, it’s a UI App bug. Just reload the page with Ctrl+F5 and everything will work.

Do one
sudo git resetand then againCan you also connect an “RS485 Ultrasonic Level Sensor” to the “Truebner RS485 Adapter for OpenSprinkler” and have it read out?
No, only Truebner sensors work on the Truebner RS485 adapter, i.e. SMT100, Aquaflex and TH100.

With http:///sg?pw=XXX
I get sensor SMT100:
“nativedata”:11391,”data”: 13.910000,”unit”:”°C”,”
Why is there another 1 at the beginning of nativedata?
This is the original value from the sensor. Truebner specified this as follows:
https://www.truebner.de/assets/download/Anleitung_SMT100_V1.1.pdf

Thanks for the (160) and longer MQTT passwords!

Yes, above this version firmware update is also working with Ethernet LAN. “Check device key” means, password is wrong.
Hello, I first had to delete the old one, then I reinstalled it and it works perfectly!!! Thank you very much!!!
Best regards, Frank.

You could, but Google is forcing developers to specify Android 11 as the minimum operating system from now on, otherwise the app will not be published in the Playstore.
https://developer.android.com/google/play/requirements/target-sdk
And I'm guessing your tablet still has Android 10
The current APK is also here: https://OpenSprinklerShop.de/firmware/app-release.apk

True. Thanks for the info, I didn't even notice! Will be corrected in the next few days!
Nice Work
Unfortunately, my OpenSprinkler reboots permanently after installing the latest firmware 2.3.0. Wifi connect –> NTP Sync –> Weather Check –> Reboot
Hello,
Have you tried resetting yet?
If that doesn't help, please send it in and I'll repair the firmware for free.
I have now downgraded to beta 2.2.0.112 and the OS is working again.
Hello,
I made a few adjustments again, please test it. Firmware link has been updated
