Hello OpenSprinkler users!
The OpenSprinkler 3.0/3.2 has two digital sensor inputs. You can do a lot with it: rain sensors, pulse counters and program starts can be easily implemented with it.
But unfortunately it's not that easy with the soil moisture sensor. E.g. The SMT50 in our shop has an analog output with 0-3V. An analog-to-digital pulse can only be achieved together with the ZPR-21. The problem is, the ZPR-21 has a 24VAC power supply and a voltage input of 0-10V. With the OpenSprinkler AC this can still be wired and the 0-10V can also be adjusted to 0-3V using the adjustment wheel, but the OpenSprinkler DC is excluded. That's why Ray from OpenSprinkler and I came up with a solution: We're building an analog-digital adapter for OpenSprinkler!
The planned features are:
- Can be plugged directly into the OpenSprinkler 3.0/3.2, the block with the 6 contacts GND/SN1/SN2/VIN/COM/COM is extended towards the front
- 2x potentiometers for setting the switching point
- 2x dip switches (or jumpers) for switching (bridging) to digital/analog. This means you can continue to use an existing digital sensor.
- 2x status LED
- GND/VIN/COM/COM are looped through
There could be a first prototype for this in 2-4 weeks.
What do you think about it?

Pre-release version tested! This version almost corresponds to the final version. The power is supplied entirely via the OpenSprinkler and both sensor inputs are used.

Receive for free the Analog2Digital adapter for your OpenSprinkler!
The only condition: Show us how it works for you – with at least one picture.
Click on “Featured” above and upload a picture of your gardening project – preferably one with OpenSprinkler!
**UPDATE 06/11/2020**
The final version of the A2D adapter is finally here. In principle nothing has changed, but the LED is now green.
– Receive for free the Analog2Digital adapter when purchasing an OpenSprinkler (AC/DC/OSPi) and the SMT50 moisture sensor at the same time!
– Existing customers: Receive for free the Analog2Digital Adapter if you show us how the OpenSprinkler works for you - with at least one picture. Register and present your installation on “Featured”.

I would join in!
another question! Is there a circuit diagram for all the wiring?
The cabling is documented in the instructions.

Hello,
Is it possible to use the a2d convertor with the new firmware to reed the temperature and moisture from the smt50?
No, the a2d converts the analog input to a digital yes/no value.
If you have an OpenSprinkler 3.2 and want to measure the moisture and temperature values, you need the “Analog Sensor Board”, see here:
https://OpenSprinklerShop.de/product/analog-sensor-board
If you have an OSPi, the new OpenSprinkler software from OpenSprinklerShop also has the analog sensor api, so if you have an OSPi before 1.52 with PCF8591T onboard, you can also use 4 analog inputs.

Yes, exactly. Use the SMT50 with the analog sensor board for optimal results. You can automatically adjust the watering by soil moisture.
Great thing. Do you plan to integrate this directly into the next version of the OpenSprinkler?
That is not yet certain. The development of a new OpenSprinkler takes years - and we have only now released the new OpenSprinkler 3.2 with Ethernet and OSPi 1.5.
